Overview

This role is responsible for partnering with members of Internal Audit to identify automation opportunities and providing quantitative analysis and data validation in direct audit engagements and throughout the entire audit lifecycle.  The candidate needs to develop audit tools, dashboards, and/or build quantitative models to drive sustainable and quantifiable improvements to the audit process.  This professional needs to have a strong understanding of business processes, risks, and controls in order to enhance audit efficiencies and effectiveness through the development and delivery of audit data analytics.  This role will directly report to the SVP & Internal Audit Data Analytics Team Lead.

Responsibilities

BAU DA Projects (Supporting Audit Projects from the Annual Audit Plan)

  • Define data needs, designs and executes audit analytics during audits in accordance with the Audit Manual and audit standards.
  • Plans & organizes his/her own data analytics BAU projects in support of audit testing or issue validations, and delivers timely, high quality results.

Strategic DA Projects

  • Works with team members and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on identifying, designing, building, and performing analytics to provide additional risk and controls insights and/or efficient continuous testing/auditing/monitoring.
  • Leads at least one strategic DA Program/Team improvement project (e.g., driving data culture, creating dashboards for management, creating a script inventory for reuse) in parallel with BAU DA projects.
  • Support & Enhance IAD Automation / Efficiency
  • Working with team members and SMEs on identifying, designing, developing new office automation tools to provide high efficiency.
  • Develop Audit Management Dashboards to efficiently enable data-driven monitoring and management decisions.

DA Brainstorming & Knowledge Sharing

  • Identify and request training as needed to develop useful data, audit, and/or soft skills needed by a DA Team member to maximize his/her efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide timely feedback to auditor professional development plans specific to Audit Analytics
  • Advise auditors on training alternatives.
  • Provide on-the-job training on Audit Analytics to audit staff and new hires.
  • Cross-train auditors in all aspects of internal audit procedures.

Other

  • Support other departmental initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree in computer science, business, data analytics/science, statistics, or another relevant topic is a plus.
  • 1-3 years of work experience, certifications, and/or equivalent focused around developing and utilizing data analytics solutions in a data intensive financial services environment, preferably in an audit, compliance, or risk management area is required.
  • Knowledge of internal control environments and audit methodologies is required
  • Accounting/audit/information system certifications (e.g. CPA, CIA, FRM, CFA) or equivalent is a plus but not required.
  • Programming capabilities in SQL, VBA, and Python is required.
  • Experience using Qlik Sense and Alteryx is required.
  • Experience in the use of data modeling, data mining, and predictive analytics is required.
  • Experience in data management, data governance, statistics, and/or model risk management is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills are required.

Pay Range

Actual salary is commensurate with candidate’s relevant years of experience, skillset, education and other qualifications.

USD $42,000.00 - USD $90,000.00 /Yr.
